    a style exercise between the primordial and the technology.

    “langage des oiseaux” is an installation resulting from the collaboration between elise peroi and giada forte. a series of works with the forte_forte’s fabric archive.

    two souls meet each other.

    two concept lines structure our exhibition, the language and the technique. the language corresponds with the bird’s singing, meant as primordial language, while the technique is equivalent to the knot as first technical gesture.

     

    walter benjamin thought that only the birds had a kind of language where the sound and the comprehension have no need of mediation: the pre-linguistic simplicity and the original form of communication people discovered before the arrival of the technology and the language, that they lost from this moment.

    elise peroi’s tactile installation.

    created with the forte_forte archive collections’ fabrics, the work of elise peroi is made of three overlapping double-faced triptychs from which there are patterns able to express and widen the thinking experience through the materiality. the shapes are created on a series of linen, cotton poplin, taffeta and silk chiffon’s layers.

     

    after having cut the fabrics into irregular ribbons with extreme precision, elise peroi has weaved and structured her canvas by inviting us to appreciate from a tactile point of view the material composition according to their sensory potential. loosen threads – as if they pend from the weave surface – and hole without weave threads give rhythm to the whole thanks to their irregular thicknesses.

     the edges and the lines create a matrix which reminds to the deeply coded logic of the weaving and to the binary language from which the weaving was born.

    a celebration of the shape’s spontaneity

    elise peroi gives free rein to material as shown by the irregular edges and the flawed lines which contrast the straightness of the structures. the work appears as a subtle surface where the language and the technique reflect on both sides of the manufacturing in an untidy balance that suggests the coexisting tensions.

     

    the work develops in nine tableaux connected together. birds, seeds, and decorations, as symbols nestle and develop from the bottom to the top. a polymorphous shape extending in the whole work and clearly suggesting a cape, the shape of a ghost or wings.

    giada forte’s cape: a unique piece, apogee of weaving technique.

    the bird’s singing and the knot are both abstractions and they work as counterpoint of the cape created by giada forte. in the white and pink versions, every fold and each thread impart to the fabric a concept of tension and loosening, of continuity and transparency, by repeating the concept of line, while the verticality requires a solemnity.

    precious handmade touches.

    the cape is totally hand-made with silk chiffon plisse on which there are long macramé tassels, and it is enhanced by glass pearls and imaginary hand-made crochet feathers.

    “pure natural production” – which has become a material expression – and the cape – technical production transformed into “intangible materia” – do not blend but join and create new “lines similarities of creative connection.”
